Last semester break, went for part time at KL Bird Park. It was for 2 weeks and I was too bored doing nothing at home. So, I was in charge of small booth selling colour books, coloured pens, and some souvenirs. The environment is very peaceful since it is located near Taman Tasik Perdana and it was sorrounded with flora and fauna. But honestly, I was quite bored sitting there from 9am to 5pm. I even don't get to go for lunch break since there's no one to swap my place to take care of the booth. So, I had to take away and had my lunch while working. Yeah, that's not so fun at all because the tourist can see me eating nasi with kari ikan ( almost everyday menu ).
I won't forget the sound of peacocks in the morning... It was so loud but entertaining since I don't get to hear it very often in the city.. To kill the time while waiting for my worktime to finish, I drew this...
Working there was a challenge for me since I had to sell things and make sure every items are in good shape. One thing I had to really endure working there is the hot weather. I sweat a lot >_<
The most memorable thing while working there was when this one french guy who is a backpacker asking me how to get to Petaling Street. I told him the direction and the fastest way to get there is by taking a taxi. But since he doesn't fancy with taxis, he rather walk to the nearest main road to search for public bus. After about 3o minutes he left, my work time for the day ended and I took my car and drive back home. Unexpectedly, while I was driving out from Taman Tasik Perdana area, I saw him still walking and searching the way to the main road. I decided to take him a lift to Petaling Street even though I was quite unsure to help him since he's a stranger to me.
While driving to Pudu, we talked for a while about his journey to Malaysia, his life in Paris, about my studies and his experience travelling Indonesia. It was quite thrilling having conversation with a french guy since I get nervous easily when I talk in English especially with foreigners.
I think one day, I'll travel the world like him... Just a backpack and let the feet takes you to the destination.. No need high class hotels or air conditioned taxis. Just you and your dear backpack =)
